If you expect a rich, smooth, polished creation, Alpa's "Chypre" will disappoint you. When perfumistas hear the word "chypre", the hope is that it will be one of those masterpieces in the style of "Mitsouko" or "Paloma Picasso". "Chypre" by Alpa has been in production for ages and is a classic, modest Cologne from the Czech Republic. It survived socialism and is still available at a very moderate price. I smell some bergamot, a touch of oakmoss and after a while, a certain woodiness combined with a sweet touch of vanilla and musk becomes obvious. It stays on the skin for about three hours. I don't know whether it was "re-orchestrated", but if it was, this has been done with respect to its classical roots. No grand chypre, but a decent Cologne with a very nostalgic touch.
