A Mix of Scents, Please!
Hey folks! I'm still here, and as I mentioned before, I'm trying to write a bit more often again, but I've been busy or dying from the heat, like yesterday or last Sunday... and this is just the beginning, in a few days we’ll probably have to endure a longer-lasting heatwave... "Summer is finally nice and warm!"??? Just get away from me with such sayings, uffff :D
So, today it's about an Alyson Oldoini fragrance, a perfume brand that I saw a long, long time ago in a traveling package and which is probably less known, I assume. I’ve now tried the fragrance “Diafana Skin.” And you know what? The scent somehow reminds me of my childhood or youth and the creation of mixed tapes... Huh? You’re probably wondering? Well, let me explain.
Since my whole family is totally music-enthusiastic, we had a lot of music cassettes,... yes... cassettes! No CDs or even digital files... As I said, that was BACK THEN :D … You still remember cassettes, right? At this point, you have to say "yes," so I don’t feel so old *sigh*.
Anyway, it’s probably the same for you that when it comes to music, you don’t always want to hear just one artist, instead, you prefer mixtapes, right? Well, when you have a lot of cassettes like we did, you also made a lot of cassettes yourself, with your favorite songs and so on, and no, it wasn't like today on the computer, where you can copy MP3 files to a USB stick or a player in seconds (I know, for most that’s out now too, because they prefer just Spotify :D), no, you had to do it all in "real-time." If a song lasted six minutes, you had to wait six minutes until it was copied onto the blank cassette. So making a 90-minute cassette took... 90 minutes, ufff... Was everything better back then? He he, in certain things I'm glad we live in a digital age :D
And you clueless young ones now know what mixtapes are and also understand what those "Awesome Mix" tapes from Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy are supposed to be, yes yes, I had to mention a bit about comics and superheroes now :DD
Well, why am I bringing this up?
Well, you see, with this fragrance, I felt that it doesn't really take a specific direction and doesn't really smell like anything in particular, but seems to have a bit of everything in it. Whether it's soft powdery iris, leather, coconut, oud, flowers, aldehydes, incense, vanilla, amber, saffron, fruits... somehow there's a bit of everything in there,... like a mixed tape, indeed... (or also... a delicious mixed bag, hmmm... that would be nice, you remember that too, right? OR?!!!), or in this case... a mixed bottle :DD
Somehow the beginning reminds me of a mix of Chanel No5 and Prada Infusion d’Iris. However, this impression doesn't last too long, so the scent then becomes sweeter and more floral with a faint fruity background, where the individual notes are hard to determine.
Because all the scents are quite weak, or in other words, none really stands out. You might perceive a bit of rose, but otherwise, it seems that most of the notes are simply too blended together.
Later, leathery notes come in, a bit of weak incense, then a little oud... well, as I said, it seems like there's a bit of everything in there, which isn’t necessarily bad, but it makes it harder for me to identify individual notes. Roughly speaking, you can say that throughout the entire scent progression, at least the powdery notes and the aldehydes can be smelled consistently.
As described, it simply smells of many notes, which as mentioned isn’t necessarily bad, but somehow you can’t really do much with the scent. It’s not bad, but also not something I absolutely need or would miss if it were no longer available. For me, it’s a casual scent for leisure, but on hot summer days like the last few days, I wouldn’t wear it, as it’s a bit too heavy and stuffy for that.
Well, as I said, the scent for me is like a mixtape,... are there also mix-fragrances? :D
On the other hand, you can layer fragrances, like the Jo Malone scents, but somehow I imagine it would be funny to go into a fragrance store and say: "Hello. I’d like a bit of Allure Homme Sport, a little Prada Candy, maybe some Guerlain’s Robe Noir and Shalimar, plus a bit of Chanel No5... oh, and please pour in a little niche fragrance too" :DD
He he he, so then, have a nice evening, see you later :)

The Scent:
The scent starts mainly with iris and smells quite clean with a very light, sweet background. The fragrance pyramid lists orris root, but to me, it clearly smells like iris (because to me, orris root smells somewhat carrot-like). Aldehydes come in too, but they aren't very pronounced.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is weak, so it will only be noticeable at the beginning and later hardly noticeable unless you’re standing close to someone. The longevity is quite okay. I would say the scent lasts about six hours on the skin depending on the dosage, despite the weak sillage. The Bottle:
The bottle... wasn’t there a photo of the bottle here on Parfumo? Anyway, the bottle is rectangular and angular. It is silver or chrome, with the glass of the bottle and thus the yellowish fragrance liquid visible on the sides. The spray head is integrated into the bottle without a cap. All in all, everything looks good. Conclusion:
So, I found the scent a bit difficult to describe, as it jumped from one note to another before it settled mainly on a powdery, somewhat stuffy path with aldehydes that it somewhat remained on. As described, it simply smells of many notes, which as mentioned isn’t necessarily bad, but somehow you can’t really do much with the scent. It’s not bad, but also not something I absolutely need or would miss if it were no longer available.
