When the angels call in Siena
In Siena - Via dei Pellegrini, 4 - you will find the small, antique-looking niche perfumery "Profumeria Artistica e Naturale Amaranthus". Old, dark brown shelves with a history house well-known niche fragrances, but many unknown or rare examples can also be found here. Including Vincent Gambino's own collection, the nose behind Angels Trumpets.
In two interesting conversations with Vincent Gambino, he told us that he worked as a director and musician, among other things, but also studied art and religious studies. He worked as a journalist for many years and at some point came to the art of perfumery, as he developed a growing fascination for the connection between matter and spirit.
This gave rise to his Dionisiac and Paradisiac collections. The Paradisiac collection is characterized by floral and citrus notes, but also features soft musky and lactonic notes.
Angels Trumpets is a fragrance that I have never smelled before. The starring role is played by the angel's trumpet - botanically Brugmansia arborea or Datura arborea - a white flower with an intense and deeply enveloping fragrance. It is considered extremely poisonous. According to the description, the flower's poison has been removed for this fragrance, which makes it heavenly. An interplay of pink pepper, tuberose, clary sage, orange blossom, neroli, ylang extra, jasmine sambac, benzoin resin, olibanum, and cashmeran conjure up a truly interesting and unique perfume, which in my view emphasizes a woman's femininity, but still reflects self-confidence and elegance. This fragrance, just like the others in his two collections, shows Gambino's creativity, free spirit and passion for fragrances. As an extrait, it is long-lasting and still perceptible even after many hours.
What remains at the end is a beautiful, balanced and slightly sweet-powdery floral bouquet with a slightly tart-spicy note.

Although Gambino is the creative mind, you can also see him cleaning the shelves in the store in between :-)
So if you're ever in Siena, be sure to pop into this wonderful perfumery - it's well worth it and you might just bump into Gambino for a nice chat (in Italian)!
