It's not you, it's me :(

This is a beautiful creation from Julien Rasquinet & Paul Guerlain, at least in the beginning...
It opens with a gorgeous combination of orris and dark brown cardamom, as if it’s been roasted or ground into powder. There's not the green component, like the smell of a fresh cardamom pod.
As it evolves, the top notes blend with creamy sandalwood (very nice btw) and resins, with myrrh standing out as the most prominent.
The myrrh here is somewhat reminiscent of cola, with a leathery texture, and this is where the beauty seems to stop.
Then, the bogeyman appears... AMBERWOODS! Buhhhh!
Yes, this creation was almost perfect for me, but seems a bit contradictory that Amouage spent time and money aging the fragrance in oak barrels and infusing it with sandalwood sticks, only for the final stage to smell like a chemistry lab.
But if you're okay with the bogeyman, and you enjoy this particular DNA, I think you could be very happy in this relationship. I'm out!

I didn’t get amberwoods from this one. I agree with you though about them generally though. I have the Dubai exclusive sequence and the opening and mid is good but those amberwoods just throw the entire drydown off. And that’s most of the journey with the scent

That's sad to hear. It seems like this collection is cursed. To be honest, I've lost interest in trying anymore.
