Scent of longing

In 2005, I traveled all the way from Cologne to Amsterdam to get my hands on this fragrance. I only knew it from stories told by other perfume freaks on the perfume forum on makeupalley.com, which I frequented a lot at the time.
A niche fragrance from the USA, which of course wasn't available in Germany.
I can no longer quite understand what this fragrance did to me back then. A warm, ambery rose with fresh accents - nothing special really...maybe it was the slightly salty Montauk rose that enchanted me so much? According to the press material, the fragrance was named after a love song that the grandfather of the owner of the brand is said to have written in the 1920s...so nostalgia was intended. The fragrance hit me like a bomb - I didn't want to wear anything else. It was as if TP had struck a chord in me...a deep longing for a place and a time beyond consciousness.
But as quickly and violently as my love came, it disappeared again. And the half-empty bottle spent many years at the back of my cupboard before I sold it here in the souk. In between, I tried again and again to see if the magic would return - to no avail. The love of a summer...gone with the wind. Just like Tiempe Passate.
