Very helpful Review

Because I wanted to smell like Sean Connery in the 70s! ;-)

You could call it a quirk, but I really wanted to have an old classic in my collection. Following the motto: There must be some fragrance from the 60s or 70s that doesn't immediately remind me of Dad's aftershave or Grandpa's soap, one that doesn't make me think of porn mustaches and chest hair. I also couldn't shake off the often-cited associations with toilet bowl cleaner and household cleaners with some of the test candidates.

I find the idea totally fascinating of how Sean Connery, Mick Jagger, Jean-Paul Belmondo, or Jack Kerouac might have smelled in their prime!? There weren't as many fragrance directions in men's scents back then as there are today, so tonka bean, aquatic notes, oud, coffee, or cinnamon were definitely not on the agenda! And yet, the male stars of that time had tremendous success with women! Could it have been due to their scent?

Today, it's hard to imagine! From "Wow, yuck" to "Wash that off immediately," the few comments I received when I experimentally wore Aramis 900 (with a warning for safety, by the way) ranged widely. So, is this a Cologne? But one that puts most EDPs of today to shame in terms of longevity and sillage!

I could say now: The scent is 100% zesty, refreshing, and clean, yet much more complex than modern aquatics. Is it the rose that still stands out particularly after 2-3 hours? In any case, there are definitely floral notes. And they are supposed to be masculine? If you give it a chance, you will certainly have 2-3 days of serious fun with this powerhouse! However, I think you remain (even in a barbershop environment) among yourselves, meaning quite alone! ;-)

For little money, it was worth the experiment for me, but the 70s are definitely not coming back, neither musically, fashion-wise, nor olfactorily! This bomb of a chypre fragrance, which audaciously calls itself a Cologne, shows how different so much was back then, and is at least worth a scent experiment today. It's like going to a museum and admiring the techniques of the old masters, whose motives, however, tend to cause a shrug! Therefore, there's no rating!

Without warning, the reaction would have been even more interesting, but I think many classics are still wearable today. Even very well.

I agree with you about the classics. With one difference: If they're (still) well made, it’s fine to have more than one ;-) In terms of scent notes, Dior Eau Sauvage should actually be similar to this one. Maybe a bit more lemony. What do you think?
By the way, I can also recommend the following classics: Floris No. 89, Guerlain Vetiver, Guerlain Habit Rouge, Lagerfeld Classic? Even though only one of them has made it into my collection so far.
