The only good thing about this one is the price. The lovage-fennel mix at the beginning was really off-putting, and that coumarin sweetness at the end doesn't convince me either. It might be because the sandalwood (region) they chose doesn't appeal to me. But there was also a note in there that isn't listed, and it really turned my stomach. It was a disappointment for me.

Well, you're right: sandalwood yes, the rest seems rather derivative.

Tonka should really save it in the end.

The fennel tea sounds the most interesting here; everything else is a bit unremarkable and just nice.

Yeah, it's definitely not bad, just nothing that really excites me.

I once had fennel tea in a sweet freshie, and it was actually quite nice.

I'd rather drink the tea and use pure oil when I'm in the mood for it.

I agree about the oil, but I've never really warmed up to fennel tea.

It might be too little perfume for you and more about the scent instead.

I completely agree with you. Buy good, pure sandalwood oil and enjoy it.

Exactly, it's not that expensive compared to Oud.

For me, the most unbearable of the Arabian Collection: Test one was okay (with a cold). This coumarin-mango lassi - fennel curry (like sweaty green nuts) I find quite unsuccessful. Although I actually like the smell of fennel. Wow, Adam...

I'm generally out when it comes to fennel (or curry). I do like sandalwood, but I believe you that it's rather unremarkable on its own.

I found it the best in the collection, but just solid; the curry note was off-putting.

The curry/fennel doesn't bother me that much; it's more the dullness of the scent. I found the AL Oud to be better, but that's not really your topic.

*"Incomprehensible" is the word that best describes this scent for me. Almost pure sandalwood (90% + according to Adam) meets a bit of saffron, and coumarin only enhances the creaminess in the drydown. It starts off with fennel tea for me (others here have associated it with curry), a minimal saffron note in the background, becoming increasingly creamy-soft, then the typical Mysore drydown. To me, it feels like the base of CdlC from the same house. Only there, they built a nice fragrance around it; here, it’s just annoying boredom. You can certainly make pure sprays with sandalwood, similar to oud, but then the quality needs to be significantly higher than this to make it interesting. So, it’s really only suitable for layering or as a base for personal creations. If I want that, I’d just buy pure sandalwood oil and get it cheaper...*
