a bit of oak moss
During my last browsing session at Karstadt, I spotted a bottle that seemed to be a dupe of La Panthère, which I had also tested on a paper strip there.
I thought I could smell a certain similarity, although my nose was not in top form from all the testing ;)
I still wanted to test something with oak moss before it might not be possible anymore, and since the packaging also listed oak moss in the allergen list, I decided to take it with me.
So how does it smell now?
The opening is fruity, somewhat strawberry-like, and has a hint of champagne. I find the original Panthère to be significantly fruitier on the test strip, and I can already reveal that this fruity note does not fade for me on the test strip.
Then, over time, the listed notes unfold; I can't differentiate them precisely, but what I smell leans towards gardenia and ylang-ylang. The scent has a kind of radiant-translucent quality, which I attribute to the oak moss, which I can soon perceive distinctly. For me, there actually comes a slight association with aftershave, but I can't say for sure whether the scent is unharmoniously blended or if my untrained nose just perceives it that way. The fruitiness is then (thankfully!) no longer distinctly present.
I perceive the scent as sweet-floral with a pleasantly bitter twist. The longevity is good with a few sprays (5-6 hours), and I find the sillage to be strong at first.
I think anyone looking for a 1:1 dupe won't find it here, but the scent still has its charm.
