Yesterday, after a long time, I wore it again and was immediately inspired to write an unconventional comment. Grand Néroli was the first fragrance from Atelier Cologne that I got to know. Still one of my favorites, this creation stands out for its straightforwardness and an astonishing longevity for a Cologne.
Whatever may have prompted me to wear a citrus-scented fragrance on a biting cold winter day: it was a thoroughly harmonious experience. This is certainly due to the fact that Grand Néroli is a Cologne Absolue, with a substantial 15% concentration of essential oils.
Accordingly, you are embraced by the expressive blossoms of the bitter orange. These, skillfully complemented by other members of the citrus family, are embedded in a fine weave of green nuances. The result is a lasting, linear scent that effortlessly endures a full day without losing vitality. Even the next morning, Grand Néroli is distinctly perceptible; the captivating yet delicate base of light woods and discreet vanilla makes starting the day a pleasure.
While it has always been a faithful companion during the summer months, yesterday revealed a whole new side of this fragrance to me. Grand Néroli unveils an unexpected depth and demands space to unfold. The crystal-clear air and the snow-covered setting of a sunny winter day provide a wonderful backdrop for the strong, radiant colors of this Cologne. It almost seems as if this summer fragrance has, against the backdrop of an ascetic winter landscape, revealed its full potential to me for the first time.
