Animalic, yet delicate
The anal secretion from beavers is not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of delicate perfumes. Looking at pictures of this peculiar ingredient does not help. But I acknowledge that many people find it delicate and sexy. Occur is the scent that made me understand what castoreum is all about and why it is so highly recommended by many.
Occur is a great fragrance that has so many lovely notes: the cardamom, gardenia and bergamot in the top, the resins, patchouli and myrrh in the heart and finally coconut, honey and oak moss in the base. And not to forget - the castoreum.
On me, after half an hour, Occur becomes really animalic and in this scent it works so well. It adds another layer of depth and an almost chocolate-y smell to the fragrance. Very delicate indeed.
I have a bottle, shaped like a table bell; like the one that the mistress of the house used to ring when summoning one of the staff. Made from thin glass with a gilded collar it underlines the delicacy of the perfume. A beautiful vessel for a beautiful fragrance.
