Wilderness Avon Eau de Toilette

Avon consultant. That's the only thing that comes to mind about this US brand, which one always tends to avoid because it is associated with "being sold something" and so on.

"Wilderness" has now crossed my path, so why not give it a try?
First impression: Better than expected.

A reasonably made Chypre is emerging scent-wise, priced in the budget segment (from 15 euros/100 ml).

It starts off a bit green, lightly ethereal - Lavandin, the budget version of lavender, stands next to cypress-like juniper.
Masculinely distinctive, with a drift towards soapy woodiness.

The heart phase comes through early, the balsam fir lives up to its name. Slightly bitter, yet made smooth and woody by amber, the slightly herbal, lightly green impression remains. The oak moss also joins in a natural way.

Everything is quite solidly crafted, natural and down-to-earth. A slightly cool, subtly earthy patchouli/incense combo then slowly spreads, while the leather remains rather modest, as the slightly soapy base tone stays quite constant.

All in all, no new wheel has been invented here, but Avon has indeed created a decent fresh-green-soapy Chypre.
