This Avon fragrance is likely known by hardly anyone anymore. Except for a few perfume enthusiasts. And for each person, it probably appears in a different bottle. Mine is shaped like an amphora in transparent dark red with a round stopper for "dabbing" on the skin. (At the bottom is a glass bulb)....
And this exotic bird is comparable to a "robber bride" in colorful clothes, with daring charm and a rough exterior but a soft core.
It is a somewhat creaky chypre, in which very herbaceous green galbanum dominates at first. Executed in a "razor-sharp" quality, as one might know from Chanel's "Cristalle".
Then come the bitter flowers, where the clove becomes very prominent. With a bit of rose, iris, and jasmine or ylang-ylang (I can't quite tell).
In any case, the galbanum becomes a bit softer, darker green, and supports the bitter flowers.
This phase lasts quite a long time until vetiver and moss notes underpin the whole thing. And deep down in the fragrance, a warm heart of amber notes can be heard, confirming: This "robber bride" is not as grim as she first appears.
And yet, this "ancient" chypre fragrance has a quirky archaic aftertaste that makes the scent unmistakably and almost mystically interesting.

I have that one too... and a bird XD... and two smaller square bottles. The scent is the same. Herbal, intense, dry with a hint of flowers. But it's good.

The old Avon fragrances from the 60s and 70s were really well made. The original bottle from 1969 is the one in my photo. Avon released special bottles on every occasion.

Avon has quite a few treasures to offer. I just stumbled upon some myself.
