Deep Amber Béjar 2014

Amber scents - just as I imagine them and many of you surely do as well - are balsamic, aromatic, sweet, quite heavy, and spicy fragrances. My favorite amber scent remains Ramón Monegals "Ambra di Luna" - it simply fulfills my idea perfectly.

However, Ramón Béjar has created something special and entirely new in this regard. Like the other RB fragrances, after a lively opening that already presents the main theme, there isn't much of a significant development to be felt. Deep Amber also develops its profile from the very beginning and maintains it.

Deep Amber is a completely unsweetened amber scent, with an emphasis on resin and wood, which give the amber its stability here. I cannot perceive violet, and the ambrette seeds initially form a slightly sweet, strong entry together with all the other fragrance notes, but this quickly calms down and leads me into a quiet oasis, whose multifaceted tree population with wood and resin takes away the sweetness and infinite heaviness from the amber.

Deep Amber is a beautiful representative of amber scents, especially BECAUSE it is so different, so it stands out from the mass of other amber fragrances. Ramón Béjar has brought an idea into the bottle here that is sure to find many admirers.

The reason I do not add it to my wish list is partly because Ambra di Luna remains my favorite and partly because Deep Amber is unfortunately twice as expensive as that one.

For all those who cannot relate to the otherwise sweet amber scents, Deep Amber is likely to be the perfect alternative.
