The Bentley for the People

Even in Munich-Schwabing, a district that is otherwise not lacking in luxury cars, the Bentley leads a niche existence. Porsches of every color, BMW X5 and X6, as well as SL Mercedes are common here, while a Bentley still holds a certain rarity value even in this area.

Every time one of the sparsely populated specimens crosses my path, I notice two contrasts that seem fundamentally incompatible, yet have been skillfully harmonized in this vehicle: a robust sense of power and a dignified elegance that shines through with sovereign understatement. The car knows its luxury status but doesn’t feel the need to shout it from the rooftops.

The scent, however, is quite different. To call it overloaded is almost flattering. The choice of ingredients conveys a somewhat arbitrary impression, and Bentley for Men Intense seems to lack a clear direction. It almost appears that everything currently popular and marketable has been packed into this bottle. A bit of oriental flair here, a touch of Caribbean beach feeling there, topped off with some powder and shredded wood: the fragrance is complete.

Even those who apply Bentley for Men Intense sparingly will first be overwhelmed by a powerful, loud mélange. A sharp, animalistic aroma goes hand in hand with a mixture of Eastern spices and citrus notes, transporting one immediately to a bazaar in Damascus or Marrakech.

But that’s not all. Seemingly at random, a rum note is also added to the colorful variety, which, while it proves to be somewhat defining later on, can only be perceived as a stylistic break at this point. Gradually, the rum gains the upper hand, initially sweet and rich, then becoming softer and more powdery in texture. Overall, it takes some time for Bentley for Men Intense to settle down. Slowly, dry, light, washed-out woods lend the base a creamy, slightly dusty, and vanillic consistency. Finally, the engine purrs, and the Bentley glides smoothly along its path.

In conclusion, a brief reflection: what characterizes the vehicle, in my opinion, is not truly reflected in the fragrance. Perhaps this is not even intended, but rather a clever move by a marketing department looking to reach new target groups for whom the actual product, the automobile, will always remain out of reach. This would then be, with a few handpicked exceptions, actually everyone. Viewed from this perspective, Bentley for Men Intense is actually quite successful.

A wise comment on the marketing of satisfying ongoing unattainabilities.

And I guess I'm one of the few who find Bentley to be gentle, a cozy scent for me.

You forgot the Q7, I actually come across those every few hundred meters here too. Am I the only one who finds the Bentley overwhelmingly sweet?

Yatagan already said it, and I can only add: If you dream of "One Million" and spray it, you'll definitely adore this Bentley as well. I'm now considering whether I should at least give it a sniff...

With L'Instant "finally" back at number 1 in men's fragrances. It took long enough. Still a trophy.

I have a sample of the scent, ...and I like it! Unfortunately, they don't give out samples of the car up there! Nice comment! Worth a trophy!

Well, whether it's Bentley, Chanel, Gucci, or Prada, who among us can really afford the originals??? No one! We all indulge in scents from brands we can't actually afford; it's a trophy for showing off)))
