For me, Portraits of Portofino is one of the most beautiful summer fragrances that I currently have in my collection. It starts off really fruity with a burst of mandarin, bergamot, and lemon. The great thing about it is that this citrus note doesn’t vanish immediately but remains pleasantly refreshing in the background throughout the entire development. Later, floral and woody notes come into play, which gives the fragrance a very clean overall impression.
No matter if it’s storming or snowing outside, as soon as I spray it on, I instantly get that feeling of summer, sunshine, and Italy by the sea. It fits any time of day in summer, whether in the morning at the office or in the evening when going out. The bottle also looks extremely high-quality, and you can really tell that Birkholz, as a German brand, focuses on quality here.
As for longevity: it lasts a bit above average for me. I sometimes don’t understand the criticism, because you shouldn’t expect 24-hour performance from such a citrus-heavy perfume. However, for what it is, it performs really well.
By the way, if someone wants to test the fragrance DNA without spending so much money, I can recommend Turathi Blue by Anfnan.
