Spectrum Birkholz 2022

Birkholz Spectrum... a beautiful scent. I first smelled it, as usual, at a Pieper store and was blown away. The fragrance opens with a distinct citrus note, but quickly, powdery and smoky notes join in. In the base, the Spectrum remains very woody throughout its lifespan, but not in an "in your face" way; rather, it's pleasant and warm. This blend of citrus, smoke, powder, and wood creates an inviting, masculine, fresh, and hardly offensive overall impression that you enjoy smelling time and again. As some statements already suggest, this is not a fragrance revolution. Spectrum, with its citrus and smoky notes, reminds one of Aventus. However, it is by no means a fragrance twin, as I find that this scent takes parts of the citrus aspect of Aventus and makes the rest more voluminous, woodier, and in my nose, distinctly higher quality. The scent reminds me a bit of cedar wood. It simply smells super natural and pleasant. The bottle is also high quality; the heavy cap with stitched leather is definitely eye-catching. The sprayer, on the other hand, is a flat 5.
Now to the problem. The scent resembles Aventus in one more characteristic, and unfortunately, it surpasses it in this aspect - the longevity. I think if the lady at Pieper hadn't given me 5 sprays on my arm, I would have realized this before purchasing (2 hours later). Because Spectrum doesn't take much longer before it becomes very close to the skin. After 4 hours, it is almost gone. For 120 euros. If I spray it on my shirt, it lasts longer, but after just a few hours, it is so weak that you can only smell it if you are no more than 10cm away from the spray point. So unfortunately, that's not a fix either. Friends confirmed my observation; it's not just because I become blind to the scent while wearing it.
And well... This makes the scent so impractical and unattractive that, for me, it currently only works for the gym. I'm out of there in a maximum of 2 hours anyway. If it would at least last 3-4 hours longer, it would be a 10/10 scent for me. Zero synthetic, beautiful composition, exactly my taste. Due to its performance, especially at this price, it becomes more of a short pleasure with a poor price-performance ratio for me. What a shame.
