Opens with a distinct cough syrup smell with slight animalic undertones. Thankfully this unimpressive beginning smooths out to a base of satiny leather and dark oud, topped with a healthy dollop of styrax.
Unfortunately my nose doesn’t pick up on the promised iris, which would have provided some additional complexity and nuance.
It’s still a lovely fragrance though: leathery, earthy, and refined, a knight wearing new leather armour. Not groundbreaking, but classically elegant and well composed.
Projection and longevity are both high — 2 sprays will last all day. Officially unisex but leans strongly to the masculine coded side.
