"Silver (Factory)" by Bond No.9 had been on my wish list for years - just because I was able to test it briefly in a store. About 4 years ago, still in the old Andy Warhol bottle. It wasn't love at first sight, otherwise I would have probably bought it; no wonder with this rather complex scent, but it just wouldn't leave my mind. However, since it is quite expensive & almost nowhere to be bought/tested in stores, it got a bit lost in my large wish list and still quite extensive Most Wanted list. But I never forgot this very special incense scent... until it was temptingly cheap online & I pressed the buy button.
It is essentially a creamy iris-incense scent - but it’s not that simple. As if a cozy home baking shop in an old church filled with incense opens up - but the scent has even more. Besides its creamy iris (supported by violet & jasmine), metallic, cool & slightly moldy sparks flash through. As if an old library meets cyber-space architecture. Don't get me wrong, it's not an easy scent, in any sense of the word. More for late autumn & winter. But it has many facets. It's hard to describe & one of the more complex Bonds. For me, since I love both of its main components, a gem. Generally, however, it is very much a matter of taste & the opposite of a safe blind buy. Comments like "old lady" are not uncommon. In my opinion, the old and new versions do not differ, so not noticeably reformulated. Good. With a sweet-plum splash, "Silver" even reminds a bit of "Andy Warhol" by Bond No.9, which is (still) tastier but less ripe. Silver incense soaked in icing - that is "Silver." And it is damn good & another example that Bond No. 9 has more strong works in its lineup than the general reputation suggests.
Bottle: one of the simplest & most beautiful Bonds in my opinion - I have the "Silver."
Sillage: incense stands out in everyday life - overall, "Silver" is, however, controllable.
Longevity: 8-12 hours is quite vague - but the performance varies at (very) high levels.
Conclusion: one of Bond No. 9's secret weapons & a treat for incense fans with a sweet twist in the olfactory bulb. Rosemary's cake baby - devilishly/heavenly delicious!
