A very (un)ordinary day in New York in the fall
The doorbell rang. She opened one eye and reluctantly looked over at the bedside table - damn it's so late. Tired, she rolled off the bed, it was hard to open her eyes, it was dark outside, the wind was whistling and left her feeling cold - great - she thought - another lousy day.
She had to hurry or she would be late again. On the other hand... never mind, there's always something going on here in New York anyway, she'll think of an excuse. To lighten the mood, she made herself some hot chocolate. But as usual, the fridge was empty from all the hustle and bustle, no milk. What the hell - she thought and simply drank it with hot water. It tasted dark, bitter and slightly dry, but warmed her up nicely. She needed something stronger, so she made herself a coffee to go in her favorite thermo mug with the cheesy Starbucks logo. Of course, the sugar was empty too, crap - she cursed annoyed - the day was off to a good start.
It was always the same: get up, get ready, run off to work. The same hectic pace every day. But today was a little more comforting than usual. The combination of cocoa and coffee sweetened her morning, too bad the milk and sugar were empty, she would have needed that. Never mind - she thought - and popped an apricot praline into her mouth. It's funny - she thought - somehow it fits in with New York, cocoa without milk, coffee without sugar and an old chocolate with an apricot kernel that saves the day after all.
Spray on a little musky perfume and off she went into the rainy dark morning of her city, another day full of hustle and bustle, stress, coffee and little sweet moments, because you always make the best of the pile of problems you encounter here. She smiled and slammed the door to her apartment with a flourish.
A very boring bottle with very special contents. That's how you could describe this fragrance. What starts out as a tart dry cocoa develops into a juicy dried peach or apricot dipped in the finest dark chocolate. Despite the milk notes listed, there is nothing lactonic here, but the fragrance certainly exudes milkiness. Over time, an addictive musk base unfolds, but the final impression is anything but gourmand - the composition is a perfume from start to finish, this is not an edible gourmand, but a perfume through and through. In the background, the tart note resonates like an aftershave; it is the bitter coffee beans that give the fragrance more spiciness. This development makes the fragrance slightly masculine and could also be worn by men.
All in all, a wonderful fragrance that starts out ordinary and turns into an unusual discovery that I unfortunately can't get out of my head. Goes well with fall and winter and very well with a city like New York.
