"I don't wear perfume, just a spritz of this simple cologne..." (Not)
Beautiful, stylish scent for every day and every occasion, it has real potential for THE ONE.
At first sniff, it has a slight leathery-peppery note like the other fragrances in the line. I like it, but this time it fades quickly. Otherwise, it initially smells fresh and lightly citrusy like a good, rounded, by no means sharp cologne with green-spicy coriander and cardamom (?). Even though this phase is nice, I wasn't overly excited in the drugstore: This type of accord is nothing particularly special, and fragrances in this category usually fade quickly with a weak and thin, artificial white musk note or similar...
However, on the way home, I smelled it again and was surprised: After a while, Essence Aromatique transforms over the bright rose into an absolutely skin/powder/light wood cuddle scent with perfectly dosed sweetness. Yet, it is zero animalistic, but soft and transparent - still not bright white, dusty-clean, or innocent, but rather casually sexy due to a spicy, slightly peppery (?) touch.
Sexy in the sense of how stylish French women dress: "I don't care about fashion, I just threw something on this morning." (Of course, that's not true, but it looks fantastic precisely because of that impression.) The scent corresponds to this image following an outfit like a combination of medium blue, perfectly but casually fitting favorite jeans with a deeply unbuttoned white men's shirt and fine suede ballerinas. (I also find the barefoot on wooden floor image from my predecessor's comment very fitting.)
To transfer the French concept of nonchalance to the scent: "I don't wear perfume, just a spritz of this simple cologne..." -> Subtext: "This seductive scent aura emanates from my freshly bathed body." - That's basically what a signature scent should ideally achieve.
Essence Aromatique is definitely not an EDC due to its heart and base, as well as its longevity; it only plays with the concept of cologne.
The surprising transformation from the unisex cologne top note to the warm skin scent, the extremely natural impression of the notes, and the resulting feminine, casual elegance drive me completely crazy.
I want it! (It's spring now, after all, it's made for this... ;)

Ahhhhh. Du bist ja ganz verliebt in diesen Duft. ...
