Essence Aromatique - I have been circling around this scent for a long time. I keep testing it again and again - until I finally bought it yesterday.
Aromatique starts fresh, like a glass of still water with the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon and a generous portion of coriander. Quite quickly, patchouli joins in and gives the fragrance a slightly balsamic incense stick touch. I find this absolutely commendable, as it makes the scent special and also has a cooling effect. It reminds me of Japanese incense sticks, which often emit a clear, spicy fragrance. Sandalwood adds depth and groundedness to the scent. The rose is not in the foreground but gives the fragrance a fine, subtle sweetness and makes it appear feminine despite the fresh-spiciness. Tonka and vanilla wrap around the entire composition like a fine web and create a powdery impression.
I can relate very well to the associations below as "rainy day scent" and "black-and-white photos." Essence Aromatique gives a cozy, "arrived" feeling. I find it very special despite its simplicity and can easily imagine wearing it year-round.
The sillage is in the close to medium range and fits well with the statement, the understatement of the fragrance. The longevity is good; I perceived the scent on my arm for about 7 hours.
I find the bottle beautiful; the glass is velvety-fine like the scent and feels good and heavy in the hand.
