Knot Eau Absolue Bottega Veneta 2018
1
Sweet and dry
When I first tried this I didn't like it.
It opens with a blast of dusty lavender that reminded me of old clothes with mothballs, which is not something I'd ever want to smell like. But then I started to notice the orange blossom slowly turn into the star of the show. It's very sweet, candied and syrupy even, and makes for a very interesting contrast with the lavender and the warm, resinous opoponax. It is as if the scent has two sides, one bright and sweet and the other muted and dry. I haven't smelled any other scent like this, it's very original.
Knot EDP is closer to a classic citrus and neroli cologne in comparison, Eau Absolue is warmer, heavier and more complex.
This is a stand-out among other designer fragrances. I don't think I would reach for it often if I had it, as the dry and dusty aspects of it aren't really my style, but I appreciate it and think the discontinuation was undeserved.
