Disappointing Little Fragrance
With such high-priced perfumes, my expectations are already very high, and when there are ingredients included that I love, like ginger, cardamom, patchouli, and neroli, I am very curious about this scent.
The opening is indeed very nice, fresh, spicy, a fine blend of ginger and cardamom. However, the top note comes across a bit weak; I would have wished for significantly more fragrance molecules, but so be it. I always have the suspicion with such thin fragrances that IsoE-Super is included to enhance the scent, but I am anosmic to that. Neroli makes its appearance, very pleasant, orangey, subtly sweet, up to this point the fragrance is really nice.
However, the fragrance increasingly veers into the banal. A slight cedar note (Ambroxan?) that begins to creep into the heart note becomes more and more present, accompanied by a piercingly artificial musk; smelled a thousand times before, God how boring. Only a hint of neroli that occasionally shines through, and a hint of patchouli save the fragrance from complete decline as it progresses.
Disappointment spreads throughout for me. For the price, I had clearly hoped for more. Recently, I have tested several neroli-tangerine-orange fragrances, including the unbeatable "Mandarine Sanguine" from Comptoir Cologne, and "Tangerine vert" from Miller Harris. Their longevity leaves much to be desired, but you don’t immediately incur excessive costs when reapplying.
Postscript: After washing it off, a new fragrance note suddenly appears that reconciles me a bit with the perfume. It smells pleasantly creamy, with a hint of neroli. No trace of the odd Ambrox and musk anymore.
Conclusion:
Top note 9, a beautiful composition, albeit a bit weak; otherwise, it would be a straight 10.
The heart and base notes, however, fall significantly short. Ambroxan and musk are overly present and do not do justice to the beautiful beginning. What a shame! I must fairly say that I generally do not particularly like musk, and the artificial cedar note is also not really my thing.
I would gladly exchange my sample for another spicy fragrance (preferably without Ambroxan and musk :-)).
