If you were asked what the absolute epitome of hay in a perfume is, you would probably end up thinking of this fragrance straight away.
Clary Sage is bursting with hay. Sometimes a little stronger, then again a little softer. But the hay is always there. Right from the moment you apply it. Lots of green facets surround the heart. Leather-like aspects hang casually in the air.
Hay flutters in the sunlight. It feels bold. It paints the landscape a rich yellow. Yet it is repeatedly permeated by green facets. The longer it stays on the wearer, the more natural it becomes. Soft earthy notes, with a touch of cardamom, weave their way in.
I think Clary Sage is especially suited to autumn and spring. It doesn't have a whole lot of punch or depth. But it does have a creaminess to it, and you feel quite comfortable wearing it and very much connected to nature.
Unfortunately, its longevity isn't much of a winner on me. Some drugstore fragrances last longer. I wouldn't buy it either, because I don't find it quite right for me personally. But if you're looking for hay, you'll definitely find it here.
Too much coumarin; that distinctive scent of hay and woodruff, linden blossom, and other greenery that’s starting to wilt and ferment. Seems to be in right now?
That sounds like a nice excuse to get out into nature now and then.
Definitely interesting for a short trip, though it doesn’t have to be a “farm holiday” with haymaking.
Thanks!
