Unfortunately synthetic!

I find the Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum absolutely wonderful. Silky sweet vanilla, unobtrusive lavender, and a mega beautiful cocoa note. The vanilla note leans roughly towards Guerlain vanilla. I had high hopes that the Intense version would smell just as good. I was hoping for an intense vanilla-lavender-cocoa combination. Chocolatey and amber would have been great.

I was all the more disappointed when I smelled the Burberry Goddess Intense for the first time.
The Eau de Parfum was merely intensified a bit, stripped of the wonderful cocoa note, and supplemented with patchouli and a vanilla wood (vanilla SFE). The result is rather sobering. At first, I’m still enveloped in a vanilla-lavender cloud. Patchouli gradually adds some depth to it. And then suddenly, full-on chemical vibes come through!

The Burberry Goddess now only exudes masculine synthetic vibes. This almost biting chemical punch completely ruins the new fragrance for me. I can't identify exactly what has been added. Patchouli is definitely not the culprit here. Unfortunately, the chemistry toolbox is being used more and more often. I can hardly find a fragrance without an unpleasantly unnatural note in the background.

So my collection will probably shrink gradually.
Unless one returns to natural raw materials. Chemistry and nature can both trigger allergies. Natural raw materials simply cost manufacturers more. Burberry can gladly keep this concoction!
In niche perfumery, this trend has not yet taken such a bad hold. So in the future, I will own fewer fragrances, but of higher quality.

Excerpt from an advertisement for the fragrance:

"This Burberry perfume is an aromatic, woody, gourmand scent. The trio of vanilla fragrance notes that make the Goddess Eau de Parfum so characteristic is further enhanced by a fourth note of vanilla wood (vanilla SFE) with a smoky character. In combination with bright lavender essence, it intensifies the fragrance with a vibrant, woody aroma."

I bought the perfume blind, and I didn't think it smelled good, but my dad liked it, so I gave it to him, and he uses it every day.

I'm totally with you! Goddess Intense is a great example of how sometimes it's best to just keep it simple when something is done well. 😌😊
