If you were just a bit stronger, you would be my god among fragrances!
It was exactly 20 years ago when my then-girlfriend gifted me this fragrance for my birthday. The relationship with her didn't last very long, but I have forever kept "Bulgari pour Homme" in my olfactory memory. I am still friends with that young woman on Facebook today. And even though I have forgotten much from back then: There is a connection in my brain that says "Chantal" (name changed by the editor, haha) and BPH belong together for me to this day!
That's why I'm not biased at all, because it's more the scent than the woman that reminds me of the past. To the beginnings of how I started constantly sniffing my arm and neck. Back then, I didn't even know the Bulgari brand; I was probably wearing HUGO or PHOTO (I can't quite remember that precisely anymore) ... In any case, I ordered BPH again after a long time (it's even relatively inexpensive now) and once again I'm sniffing around to catch that something of which I unfortunately don't know what it is. It has quite a few ingredients, the good (!) BPH.
I strongly suspect musk and floral notes that may distinguish the scent from the "Extrème" variant. Of course, I had also acquired this version at some point, but it just couldn't compare to the scent construct that is so deeply anchored in my head. Although it also smells very good, it somehow lacked the decisive element for me - or the corresponding concentration of it. Yes, it lasted longer, but the crucial aspect I couldn't really sniff out.
This brings us to the only "complaint" I can make about BPH: The performance was and is in need of improvement, and I'm not even a fan of an exorbitant sillage. You have to sniff out the essential essence of BPH like a truffle pig after a maximum of 2-3 hours to perceive it somewhat clearly. That's how it is for me - today as it was then. Maybe that's what makes the charm of this EDT!?
Well, maybe I am biased after all!? But not because of a past love, but because of a fragrance in which I could have bathed two decades ago. So to everyone: Stay beautifully subjective! ;-)
