Never in my life did I think I would like a fragrance with marigold so much! For me, these flowers have always been associated with a scent of "mustiness" - not really my thing. When I tested Bal d'Afrique, I was convinced by this wonderful creation.
In the opening, the fresh notes of bergamot and lemon greet me.
The marigold sneaks in relatively quickly and gracefully among the citrus, bringing a certain spiciness without being "musty."
As the fragrance develops, it becomes increasingly floral and slightly powdery due to the violets, while the jasmine adds a hint of sweetness. Thus, the otherwise strong marigold is beautifully delicate and skillfully framed within the scent profile.
The woody base combined with the musk beautifully rounds off the fragrance and brings Bal d'Afrique to a soft, pleasant conclusion.
I would categorize the longevity and sillage in the upper middle range; it lasts about 7 hours on me without annoying myself or others :). Due to the balanced composition of the fragrance notes, I see Bal d'Afrique as unisex. Moreover, in my opinion, it can be worn year-round and for any occasion.
