Spring-like Inspirations
He looked at the cream-white silk square in front of him; he had already stretched it onto the appropriate frame.
His tools: brushes and paints, the small mixing palette - all of it was ready on the little table beside him.
Nothing was missing. Nothing - except for the all-important inspiration!
Lost in thought, he gazed out of the atelier window; saw the rooftops of the city center; the gray where there should have been blue sky and sunshine.
How was he supposed to paint a new silk scarf here and today?
The bad weather phase had lasted too long, and the deadline was approaching fast.
Sighing, he dreamed himself into spring: he saw sunshine, lush green, and the first blooming flowers on heavy dark soil.
He would use the dark green for the large rhubarb leaves that fit quite well into the corners: he could almost sense their somewhat stern scent.
Fine reddish veins ran through these leaves with their wavy edges.
Yes, a beginning had been made!
To the dark, somewhat sternness, he now needed something sweetly fragrant and light: a few nests of yellow, fragile freesias joined the green.
And cyclamen! Yes, cyclamen: the small, wild ones that grew in whole clusters and lifted their proud little heads.
Of course, he needed the classic light violet-tinged red for that: during his now confident, elegant brush strokes, he felt surrounded by a fine breath of spring.
The world smelled, it was alive again!
And so was he: inspiration pulsed through his winter-weary body!
A glance at what he had created so far showed: now tulips had to come!
Tulips in the most varied colors; best the fringed so-called parrot tulips. They would fit wonderfully into this picture.
Also important were these curved stems, which uniquely find their way to the light.
His brush flew across the bright silk!
Proudly, he stood before the frame on his little easel:
Not only did the colorful, hope-spraying colors please him, but he also felt the lively breath of spring.
But he also sensed that his artwork - for it had become a small work of art by now - needed a bit of calm and depth.
This colorful kaleidoscope of shapes and colors needed to be toned down a bit.
His spring also included the woods: some still bare, some already intertwined with fine leaves.
And what a spicy scent they already emitted in the light spring rain!
His brush almost blindly found the sought-after shades; he perceived them as fragrant nuances.
It was done!
His highly developed sense of smell suddenly began to vibrate; his colorfully spring-scented silk painting received a special touch: his wife had just entered the atelier.
As usual, she smelled familiar of vetiver!
What a sensory masterpiece was created in that moment in this sparse attic space!
The woman would finish the silk square with fine rolled hems; she was skilled at these delicate handworks.
Who would buy it from him this time and thus bring a little money into the household?
Hermès? Ferragamo?
Our artist does not yet know that these true works of art on silk will later be sold as foulards for a lot of money and will even achieve a cult status!
"La Tulipe" is such a fragrant painting: not a high-quality or elegantly composed work of art; but still the result of a solid craftsman with a lot of imagination and love for what he does.
It promises spring in an uncomplicated way, brings much joy, and reliably accompanies its wearer for several hours.
It bids farewell slowly and politely - a light whisper remains on the skin.
And the longing memory of what spring means: light, air, and cheerful experiences!
Thus, "La Tulipe" earns its place in the great world of fragrances - as a friendly spring greeting!

I love tulips. Especially French tulips. When they bloom, they look like little dragon mouths opening up. In black and violet... a dream! Your story and the anticipation of spring were a dream too. I know some scents from Byredo, but not this one yet!

I especially loved the bright yellow freesia, just like your comment! I've never noticed a distinctive scent from tulips-they just smell green to me.

That was inspired.

Tulip evokes for me the typical scent of large blooming tulip fields (I often smelled them in the Netherlands), wide-open tulips that are just beginning to fade, greenish cool with a very gentle floral touch and the intensity of the stamens, which can have a saffron-like scent. It's a very successful perfume.
