There's something about patchouli and cacao/chocolate notes together that sounds awful but works beautifully to my nose (see also: Strangers Parfumerie Cachouli and Fresh Cannabis Santal). I don't pick up a lot of flowers or fruit in Velvet Haze; they seem to be more of a supporting cast compared to the stars of the show: musk, patchouli, and dark, bitter chocolate, adding creaminess and warmth to the overall composition. Velvet Haze is a perfect scent for when I want to feel cozy but don't want to smell like dessert.
