Velvet Haze
With Byredo, I don't always have it easy ... most of the brand's fragrances have completely failed with me, the only one that made it into my collection is Bal d'Afrique.
I was more than curious about Velvet Haze ... the pyramid sounded great :)
At the perfume meeting in Munich, I briefly smelled it on a test strip and found it terrible. I had already participated in the sharing and still waited impatiently for the decant ;)
Finally, the moment arrived and I was a bit stunned!
Narciso For Her EdT ... but different ... and the name "Velvet Haze" ... fits perfectly!
One thing upfront ... you should like musk, and the somewhat strange-scratchy opening is quickly overcome ;)
About the scent:
Why does Velvet Haze start so scratchy? It might be due to the ambrette seeds, which are said to smell musky-herbaceous-peppery (and that's exactly how I perceive the opening!)
I am quickly reconciled with the not-sweet coconut that joins the musk. (nothing gourmand here!)
Patchouli is now also mixing in ... not earthy as one often expects. It adds dark-smoky accents to the scent progression.
The whole thing is dusted with cocoa powder and an extra dose (!) of musk is added.
A sensually intoxicating scent ... not new yet still different. Similar to Narciso For Her EdT but never the same.
The creamy-clean base is slightly soiled (sexy) ... and I find it lovely that coconut and cocoa keep flashing through. It should be mentioned again that we are not dealing with a gourmand scent here :)
This is how I like musk and this is how I like Byredo.
The Velvet Haze is intoxicating and addictive.
I believe that Velvet Haze is wearable almost all year round except for the height of summer. Unisex? ... hm... I'm not so sure (I can't really imagine Narciso on a man either) but the gentlemen have to decide that for themselves ;)
The longevity is about 8 hours. The sillage is not overwhelming but well noticeable.
We all know the simple Byredo bottles. The 100 ml bottles are hefty and heavy ... the 50 ml bottles are really cute :)
Conclusion:
Coconut, patch & plenty of musk
dusted with cocoa powder.
Intoxicating haze!
Creamy-clean base... Narciso waves in :)
For me, as a musk and Narciso fan, Velvet Haze is a brilliant new discovery ... I recommend testing it ... you definitely have to sniff it at least once ;)

Mir wäre er wohl doch zu süß; aber was so "echt Sweetsmell" ist, findet sicher einen leckeren Partner für den Tag,
Du hast ihn wieder sehr fein beschrieben - danke!
Die war mir zu penetrant. In der Basis aber wirklich angenehm cremig.
