I literally thought I had somehow received a fake version of this perfume because the performance is atrocious. I wore this three days in a row thinking I was going crazy since I've only heard good things, but I then compared my bottle with a gifted absolu dabber and confirmed that this version is not absoluting.
Yes, the newer version is smoother and has gotten rid of the shampooey kind of synthetic elements of the OG. The sapodilla feels more realistic, and the scent really is beautiful. But man this has really no projection and I need to be able to smell my perfume, that's why I wear it... The absolu definitely clings onto clothing for a lot longer so the longevity is there, but it is a ghost at the end of the day.
