Summer 1997. Calvin was part of it...
Summer 1997. We were 17, 18. Not really teenagers anymore, but not quite adults either. We listened to Oasis, Die Toten Hosen, Puff Daddy's tribute "I'll be missing you". We went camping, drank, met up every evening, and just had an awesome carefree time. As a child of that era, I naturally wore CK One and CK Be. Back then, I didn't even know what unisex meant. I didn't care. Those were the fragrances of our time.
Inspired by Leimbacher's very positive comment and the memories of that time, I wanted to test Calvin Klein's new product. Especially since nothing has really excited me since then.
Usually, one describes the scent first and then the rest. However, I have to say something about the bottle first. It's really cool. Minimalistic, clear, and very stylish. Compliment.
Regarding the scent, I have to agree with Leimbacher. It works. The opening is very candy-like synthetic sweet, but that fades quickly. It's worth noting that the synthetic aspect doesn't smell sharp or indefinable. Synthetic, no question, but pleasant.
Once the candy has dissipated, the sweetness remains, but it comes across as fresh and floral. Definitely unisex, but easily wearable for men of the corresponding age without any fuss.
The longevity is really good, at least on the test strip that is currently in front of me. It sat in my hallway all night, and when I got up and went downstairs this morning, I noticed this wonderful fresh scent and didn't even know what it was at first. Accordingly, it doesn't seem to have poor sillage.
Who can wear it? Definitely both genders of younger ages. At 35, I probably won't buy this scent. But the generation described above in the summer of 2016 probably will.
Whether CK2 will have a similar cult status, I doubt. It doesn't present anything new.
After Baldessarini's "Ultimate" and Sander's "Strictly", this is the next surprisingly good scent from a brand that hasn't brought anything exciting to the market in years.
Thank you, Calvin.....for the memories.
Best regards
