Summer de Janeiro
The World Cup summer is just around the corner, and I’m excited. It fits perfectly with my current endeavor to expand the summery side of my collection. If possible, not with too many new orange fragrances - I already have many, including some of the best. Right now, I’m looking more for other summer refreshers - mint, lime, fruits, ice, cocktails. I find it very difficult to deal with marine aquatics, but it’s also quite interesting to find suitable candidates. Overall, it’s a challenging task to distinguish between the often very similar summer perfumes and to separate the wheat from the chaff.
But let’s get to the latest CK One Summer - which deserves an extra detailed comment from me. Get ready for it, here’s one of my recommendations for your summer, and it’s limited and very affordable. And unique, different, sexy, young. Perfect for a samba summer. Sure, it’s not perfect, but I’m happy to start a bit of hype here so that at least more people will test it. Because it has convinced me so much that I will even take a closer look at the other summer editions, having already ordered the predecessor blindly. It hit a nerve and deserves to be bought. The original could also be considered, a perfect entry-level perfume, which never really fit into my large collection. This spot could now be taken by one or two of the summer editions, which might even gain value over the years and become rarer. Plus, it has a hot beach look and no boring ideas - collector’s heart, what more could you want! I did test one of the Summers during my early days and commented on it - back then, however, it was just very quickly, strictly, and I didn’t catch a particularly spectacular vintage. Unlike this Rio-Caipirinha with bite, zest, and party mode.
With this scent, the hips shake, the sun burns, and the holiday and leisure heart laughs. It starts with tequila, lime, and a lot of sugar - of course, the fragrance pyramid is also marketing. But besides courage, ideas, and coolness, I’m simply convinced by this laid-back Caribbean scent. Sure, it’s not niche, quite the opposite. It’s definitely synthetic and sometimes scratchy and odd. At first, I thought, oh no, too much melon. But overall, this thing rocks and just dances away the criticism. One could really imagine raw sugar. I even smell a very slightly salty note, as if you’ve been dried out for 3 hours after a trip to the sea. Coconut is only very lightly present at the end, plus a powdery musk drydown. Conclusion: Award for being particularly bold and slightly tipsy!
Bottle: stylish, colorful, young, cool. But there have been much prettier ones.
Sillage: free and summery - don’t expect too much.
Longevity: here, too, low expectations help - then you’ll be rewarded with 7 hours.
Despite the synthetics and flaws here and there - the 2014 CK One Summer is an extraordinary vintage that will be talked about for a long time. So secure your copy, even if that sounds sensational. At least test it and let me know your opinion. I think especially the younger ones around 20 will love this cocktail with tequila!
P.S.: Alcoholics and children, please keep your distance ;)

Successful blind buy, this will be my vacation scent for 2016. "Tipsy" really captures it, and I even think the synthetic notes are cool-it puts me in a good mood!
