Of Wooden Legs, Parrots, and a Bottle Full of Rum...
Bay Rum is something strange. Bay leaf, allspice, and a lot of high-proof alcohol based on sugar cane. You can easily make it yourself and use it as an aftershave.
With Captain Fawcett's B&B, you get this, along with a nice spicy tobacco note. Slightly sweet. Almost cinnamon-like.
Distinctive and you don't smell like everyone else. The spiciness gives the perfume its own unique charm.
In summer, it's really a bit much for me. Now in the foggy autumn, you're olfactorily transported to the Caribbean. Nice.
The alcohol note is replaced in the base by clove. In combination with the southern tobacco and the resinous notes, it all becomes balsamic and oddly cozy with a slightly dusty scratchiness.
There's really a lot happening for such a perfume. You could also call it oriental.
A few years ago, I wore it a lot. The bottle is about half empty.
I like it best now in the cold half of the year because of the warm components.
