So many fragrances…
Once again, here comes a brand that I don't know. But that shouldn't surprise either me or you. I mean, just go to the homepage of Parfumo, what do you see there? At least at the time I'm typing this (which has probably changed by now), there are a total of 84,426 fragrances, divided into 6,454 brands. Those are numbers that are really hard to wrap your head around. Just the thought of wanting to have one fragrance from each brand means you need to make space for almost 6,500 bottles… I think no one will ever reach the goal of owning every fragrance in their lifetime (let alone using them, since even with two fragrances a day, you would still need about 115 years to wear all these fragrances just once (and this doesn't even account for the fragrances that will be released during that time)…

… so what does that mean? That our hobby actually makes no sense anymore… so… why are you even still reading this? Throw away your fragrances and find another hobby…! Or even better, send me your bottles, I’ll gladly take them all and um… dispose of them for you :DD

But now to the fragrance!

The fragrance:
The beginning is characterized by strong-sweet (and synthetic-smelling) notes, with the freesias adding a considerable amount of stuffiness. Aside from the aforementioned notes, you can definitely smell the honey melons, but the other fragrance components listed in the top notes are hardly perceptible.
Nevertheless, the honey melons also get overshadowed by the very sweet notes, which I believe could come from the jasmine and the lily of the valley. And even though the fragrance smells nice, the sweet note seems a bit sticky, but I don’t find that too bothersome. Perhaps many might find this type of sweetness too girly, a fragrance that could appeal well to teenagers.
The freesias become weaker later on, so the stuffy note also diminishes. It remains strongly sweet due to the notes described above.
Towards the base, I smell caramel. I find this sweetness much better than at the beginning, as the fragrance now also seems less synthetic. A slight coconut note comes in, making the fragrance a bit nicer, but unfortunately, the nut doesn't last long and disappears again soon. In the end, there are the "usual suspects" like amber and especially vanilla, which ensure that the fragrance remains sweet and even somewhat tasty until the end.

The sillage and longevity:
The fragrance starts off quite strong. Later, it does weaken, but it remains pleasantly noticeable for a while.
The longevity is okay. It is good to smell for about four to five hours, after which it becomes too weak to be properly perceived.

The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular in shape, but it angles off to one side, so that it should form an X-shape when viewed from below. The neck of the bottle is red, and the cap is multi-faceted. It looks quite nice.

Yes, the fragrance starts off very sweet (and briefly also stuffy, but that passes quickly) and due to the synthetic "aftertaste," the fragrance also comes across as somewhat cheap. However, this diminishes later, and the fragrance doesn’t smell too bad at all. Sure, it’s not outstanding, nothing special, but it is very noticeable and a bit girlish.

If you just want to smell "loudly" sweet during a party, you might want to check out this fragrance here. However, there are also much better-made versions of this type of "carnival-like" (i.e., caramel/cotton candy) fragrances, such as Pink Sugar (Aquolina), Candy (by Prada), or Ma Robe Sous le Vent (Guerlain). This one is, however, a bit cheaper than some of those fragrances, and it mostly smells just as "delicious," just perhaps a little more teenage-like, but not so much that everyone couldn't give it a try. The only real downside: Despite good sillage, the longevity is unfortunately only below average, lasting just under four hours, while the aforementioned fragrances perform significantly better.

Nonsense with Vanilla Sauce
I don't know what's wrong with me, but I think my olfactory taste is changing again, and not subtly at all. While I used to at least like girly, extremely sweet gourmands, even the most synthetic and clumsy ones, I could now regularly freak out over fragrances like Medea or the Fool For Love I tested yesterday and have to suppress the goosebumps and nausea. Just sweetness, sugar, and calories without any finesse just doesn't work for me anymore. These rubber duck fragrances are still preferable to truly awful stinkers, but they now leave me feeling battered and with a similarly poor rating.

Enough preamble. What makes Medea so overly sweet and at times annoying to the point of being inedible?
--> Medea smells to me like sugared, mashed raspberries. Then caramel, coconut, melon, lychee, and the like are added, and it's just too much. Just smelling it could almost give you acne - no thought was given to a bitter, smoky, or down-to-earth counterpart. I actually only expect such a scent from Ed Hardy or something similar, and it certainly doesn't make me hungry for more perfumes from this brand!

Bottle: it's so much prettier than the scent!
Sillage: fortunately not too strong, which is an advantage here.
Longevity: not a standout performance - 5 hours.

It's so sticky, it could have easily fit in with House of Sillage... I certainly don't want to get caught up in this floral-sugar-jelly!

Generous rating!
