I once had one of those strikingly unremarkable bottles in the early nineties. I found the scent very impressive even as a young man. However, I didn't wear it often. The base was terrible. It lingered in my jacket for days. A very animalic scent. Very intrusive. It could have been the castoreum. I found it very perverse back then.
About 2 years ago, I sniffed it again in a branch of the famous turquoise perfume chain.
Either my sense of smell has changed over the long time or my hormone levels. Perhaps the formula has also been altered.
I like the scent today from beginning to end. A great leather note with a spicy background. A classic that must not disappear. Such expressive compositions are now very rarely found among new releases in this price range.
