Cuir de Russie
I have a treasure,
I received one delivered free of charge..
I can hardly believe it’s true.
Two vials with precious essences from a long-gone era.
They came with a lot of other beautiful fragrances and you won’t believe it
despite the most careful sealing, additionally wrapped in tape
and even though Absynthe spilled over Habanita,
the only scent that truly penetrated my nose and enveloped me was
the fragrance of the two treasures!
I placed them carefully in a glass, near my desk.
Now and then I took them and sniffed a little.
I circled them for days like a wildcat stalking its prey.
I even took Cuir de Russie with me for on the go.. crazy.. right??
I didn’t want to open the precious drops... what would I do without them later??
Another fear overcame me... what if they evaporate??
So I had to take the plunge... with a lot of effort :)
Cuir de Russie smells like a whole day from a distant, well-lived time.
So radiant it is.... it stands right before you in the moment,
presents itself to you without vanity, not capricious or lofty.
It grabs you tightly, without ifs and buts, and pulls you along.
The opening is finely spicy sage with the sweetest lemon.
I smell good bergamot and small, fine juicy mandarins.
I want to eat it immediately, so inviting.
But right away I also smell leather, quite velvety through the heart note
it reaches all the way to the top.
All components of the top note resonate so beautifully and wonderfully through the
heart into the base.
Incredible and genius... this is, "a concert" and stands so on its own!
The heart note with iris (it keeps growing), jasmine, and mainly ylang,
always resonates, even in the base, soothing the loud dark leather.
Vanilla, amber, it smells woody, I sense incense and the wild cat!
So lascivious, almost dangerous with a touch of roughness,
well hidden in elegance!
Also, such a scent that almost merges with my skin, the most beautiful
leathery iris!
If a man were to wear it, I would already be ....
