When Name and Fragrance Show More Contradiction than Harmony
The bottle of Extrait de Parfum has captivated me for a long time, and I searched for an affordable bottle of this fragrance for quite a while, really a very long time. A few weeks ago, it finally joined my collection and enriches my fragrance wardrobe - in the truest sense of the word.
Because what the name absolutely does not suggest, Directoire is an incredibly fine, very feminine, and subtle fragrance. It conveys absolute elegance - carried by jasmine blossoms, possibly supported by rose, but very restrained. Soft and very gentle, it envelops me and is almost only perceptible to me.
In this respect, it is very well suited for daytime wear, as it is only noticeable when the wearer passes by and leaves behind this delicate scent veil. But it is also great for going out, as Directoire is a fragrance to feel good in.
The very fine and gentle woodiness with a minimal dose of vanilla in the background forms the base and embraces the almost creamy flowers. It is truly a delight.
Directoire dates back to the heyday of the Charles of the Ritz brand. The perfumes from this era are characterized by soft, very feminine elegance, quite different from the perfumes of the 1950s, such as Ishah.
A - small - second bloom was experienced by Charles of the Ritz again in the 1970s, from which the wonderful "Charles of the Ritz" perfume originates, which is now only available at astronomical prices, and in the 1980s, when the popularity of the television series "Dynasty" was leveraged with two fragrances.
