I'm back. I'm buying Chloé Absolu blind. And why? Because I read the statements and comments that describe it as much more beautiful than the original. And because it’s limited and discontinued. Immediately, I fall into the familiar Raff and hamster mode. Normally, I don't like Chloé at all. Way too soapy and sharp, even the flankers. And in general, I prefer to admire roses in a vase.
But I did it anyway. Just ordered it and let myself be surprised. And you won’t believe it: it is actually a little bit soapy. But I like it! It doesn’t completely blow me away, but that’s okay. I actually find it much more beautiful than the original. Softer and rounder, nothing jabs or bites, not even the soap. Classic, well-groomed, clean, and pure. A fragrance for many occasions, although many people probably know it.
The main theme here is also the rose, which probably contributes to the slight soapiness. And although I am very sensitive to soapiness in fragrances, I find it just pleasant in this scent. Then it becomes soft, I think due to the vanilla, which is only delicately dosed and makes the fragrance beautifully rounded. It’s not sweet, but it radiates a certain warmth. The little bottle is also pretty to look at.
Chloé Absolu is always wearable, a classic go-to that doesn’t clash anywhere. Whether in the office, at the doctor’s, at family gatherings, in a restaurant, or at a funeral: with this fragrance, you won’t stand out unpleasantly anywhere.
But that’s probably exactly what might annoy some: little development, pleasing, classic, nice, and clean, pearl necklace and twinset. I don’t care. Sometimes a woman just needs exactly such fragrances.
That's right! Sometimes a woman just needs uncomplicated scents. I tend to lean more towards that anyway. I still enjoy sniffing rose fragrances, and even though I often like them, I don't wear them anymore; they just don't feel like me anymore.
You're right! The scent has to please you first and foremost - no matter what others think. I believe everyone needs a fragrance like that, easy to wear, so to speak. Mission blind buy successful then ;-))
Exactly, you don't always have to stand out! ;-) I find the regular Chloe a bit sharp, but this one is better. However, my favorite is Roses de Chloe; it's so light and uplifting, not soapy at all!
Nice comment, or rather, great review from you. A lovely scent can be just right on certain days. The Chloé rose is quite cool and distant, but I find it beautifully clean-fresh and nice :o)
I found the scent less clean than the original - and strangely, I didn't like it; I thought the patchouli was out of place.
Haven't heard from you in a while - or was I not paying attention?
Oh, that sneaky hoarding mode... it comes out in me from time to time too.
The Chloéroses are all very polished, but I find them quite likable. And when a woman is pleasantly and calmly scented, I have no objections at all ;-)
You speak to my soul. I also bought it blindly because of the hype and the comments here. I was a little disappointed because I thought "Absolu" would definitely be intense. But, just as you describe, it's actually quite subtle and one-dimensional. On days when I don't want to stand out with my perfume but still want to wear one, I would choose this.
I can't stand twinsets; too much stuff layered on top makes me statically electric. And the pearl sheen gets rubbed off and becomes dull. But I love pearl necklaces! I have a lot in almost every variation, with and without other gemstones. So I don't need this scent. Perfume and pearls just don't mix anyway. It's nice to read something from you again!
