I was looking for a light, feminine lavender scent - preferably niche - that isn't boring. I love Mon Guerlain Intense - but for everyday wear, it's too much for me. Definitely. I honestly didn't think it would be so hard.
Long story short: I eventually found myself at the Chloé counter. I had little hope. Chloé is not really my brand; I almost completely gave away my bottle of Normade to a friend a few weeks ago. And the first spray on paper of Lavanda? Quite scary. Just a sharp, cleaning product green and no lavender. I was persuaded to test the scent on skin.
And lo and behold: The top note, or the first impression, is still very NEON GREEN (grass and lemon for me) and unfortunately, I don't smell any flowers. Sorry! The sharpness thankfully fades quickly. The scent remains predominantly green for me, but it softens, the lavender shines through, and a few flowers join in. It has a bit of a wildflower meadow vibe, I would say.
Later in the dry-down, the scent is undoubtedly close to the skin, more floral, and powdery - which I personally find very sexy.
Lavanda deserves a chance: please don't judge it directly at the counter and on paper. The discrepancy was very large in my case.
PS: I’m still very open to ‘sexy lavender’ tips. ;)
I find Ashlemah and Au Thé Bleu by Bvlgari very sensual, both discontinued but occasionally spotted in the souk. Then there's Rimbaud by Celine, and if white lavender is also an option, Lavande Blanche by L'Occitane is quite affordable and especially appealing when combined with their sweet almond body oil. 💜
