Chef?
Yes?
What should we do with this spicy Ambrox-cardamom fougère we have lying around?
Name it after a classic from Crown!*

Hmmm. I always find uninspired things a bit embarrassing in that price range.

Of course. I don't know what the original Crowns used to cost, but they probably didn't charge as much as CC.

Well, to make money, you often need a certain level of audacity.

So it's just the name that's been duped :D
Nope, I haven't tested any CC yet, but with those prices, I really don't feel like it.

I get it, they're often quite good, but not for the price they're asking.

Boss to the apprentice: Paint the window!
Apprentice after 10 minutes: Boss, should I paint the frame too?

I only know the Silver from MFK, and I thought that was already bad.

I actually really like it; I have a bit of a thing for the fresh scents from MFK.

Luckily, I tested it for free at the perfume store. If I had to pay for the sample, I would have been even more upset... :D

Probably they assume that not everyone knows the "good old scents"? And for a certain clientele, it's really important to wear an expensive fragrance from xy. What a shame!

Then I don't understand why they would even adopt the aesthetics and the name. Young, affluent customers won't relate to it anyway, and customers who know Crown won't be drawn in here. It's not like Crown is the biggest name in perfume history; it's a brand that very few people in the mainstream will recognize.

Exactly. The scent itself isn't bad; it would definitely be quite popular at around €2/ml.

It didn't resonate with me as much. I don't see any connection to the esteemed fragrance house other than the name.

Everyone has been waiting for this scent! 😂
Anglia Perfumery really takes the old DNA of Crown to heart, just look at Spiced Limes.

It seems that way, but honestly, I can't quite figure out which other Crowns are being "revived." I need to look into it more closely. The prices at Anglia are also very, very different from here.

*Thanks to Clive Christian for this wonderful idea. Take some random scent that has a slight "gentle fluidity silver" vibe from MFK, charge €9/ml for it, name it after an old classic from Crown, without the fragrance resembling the DNA at all. It's a strange way to carry on the legacy of a brand that you bought. Looking at CC's marketing, one might get the impression that this legacy is extremely important. When you smell the fragrances, and can, like I did in this case, consider yourself lucky enough to have experienced the original from Crown, you realize that this legacy is being trampled here. The scent is okay, everything else is rubbish.
