The Rose Without Rose-Colored Glasses

This was actually supposed to be my 800th comment. A rose, a very special rose, a rose from the past. But then Don Royal Ambrée was uploaded, my new registration, and it threw a wrench in my beautiful plan :-) so here I am with my 801st comment.

La Rose Jacqueminot begins with a very soapy opening, like one of my mother's rose soaps, freshly lathered. It is a green, clear, and very high-quality rose soap. However, the soapiness calms down after about 15 minutes, allowing the rose(s) to speak.

These are dark red roses, this very special variety, with velvety petals and a large, firm bloom that shimmers like black-red velvet. Their scent is enchanting, dark, and warm - just as they are. They do not need notes of apricot, pear, peach, or similar to emphasize their fragrance; they are simply the rose.

In the drydown, it is very dry, mossy with a slightly resinous background.

This rose is not a young lady and not a girlie, but she is also not a vamp. She is simply a confident, elegant, almost a bit aloof lady, and I fear she would hardly stand a chance in our fast-paced modern world...

Is she just herself? That sounds so wonderful! I'm tempted to try it out. Thank you!
