This scent sounded just to my taste and I almost ordered a bottle right away. But Jifat advised me to try a sample, and that was a good call. Empreinte starts off green-spicy and soapy, which I like, but at the same time, I smell something dull. Chalk?! Yes, I can't describe it any other way, and that chalk bothers me. After a few minutes, the scent on my skin becomes slightly sweaty, just a little, not bothersome. I can't perceive any flowers. It now reminds me a bit of Ivoire. I can't detect anything more; it doesn't change further on me, it just gets weaker and bids farewell. I applied it three times, but I always came to the same conclusion, what a pity. Unfortunately, it's not for me.
I don't know the scent - could the sweaty note be the peach? I mean, there's peach in Trésor (a fragrance that makes me want to gag), and in a certain combination, it could come off as a sweaty, sweet bed smell...
In the base, the scent really comes into its own and reveals a wonderful, pure sandalwood note. I don't get the sweaty and chalky impression (thankfully), but I can definitely pick up on something slightly sour in the first fifteen minutes... like white wine.
Interesting comment. I only know the vintage Empreinte and not this 2012 reissue. With IVOIRE, I've always noticed a sweat note that really bothered me. Some users mentioned this in American forums as well.
It's always amazing how differently we perceive scents. With **Ivoire** (which I unfortunately don't like at all), I can't find any similarities; it's definitely too soapy for me. With **Empreinte**, the "soapy" note is more subtle.
