A Tender Dreamy Incense Stick

Blue Orchidée is another solid stick fragrance from the Shanghaïjava collection. The insert description paper that comes in the little outer box says the following:
"Oh wonderful Oriental nights,
magnificent allusions,
mysterious jumble of emotions,
scented voyage."
This fragrance has a very delicate soft powdery incense aroma that truly smell like meditative incense gently wafting in on a balmy evening breeze as it escapes from a peaceful temple. It is nothing more than a skin kiss, as with many of the Crazy Sticks, the sillage is barely noticeable unless you have your nose pressed directly onto the warm skin. But a thousand mysterious & wondrous delights await you, if you do! The scent is purely contemplative and mesmerizing. This is not a sweet or cloying orchid scent like in "Fantasy" or Sussanne Lang's "Midnight Orchid or even Tom Ford's "Black Orchid". This is much more a passive mélange of jasmine, ylang, sandalwood and white musk. The rose and bergamot in this are extremely subtle and the finish is much more about a slightly musky vanilla smoke puff. On my skin, this last about 1-2 hours, so I carry this in my purse to reapply. It makes and excellent base for blending with other Crazy Sticks to give a more powdery incense edge, in particular I like to layer it with the "Hommage A Gabrielle" stick which has notes of peony, cedar, elemi, russian leather and a bit more staying power than Blue Orchidée does alone. I definitely love these little sticks, but they are very much for the weak/sheer sillage lovers who enjoy smelling an occasional pleasurable whiff, or backpack travelers looking for a handy little dose of aroma therapy on a hot humid stale and cramped transport barge, floating lazily down river through the Orient.
