A new love but, why that price?
I love GIT. But i just don't see myself paying retail or even discount for this scent.
Since "The Ghost Perfumer" dropped a ton of things have appeared in the com and the truth about the maison of Creed is not particularly hopeful.
Talking objectively, this has NEVER had natural ambergris but rather ambroxan. It's actually better, cheaper, more projecting, no weird animalic molecules inside the liquid, while bearing in mind AG does not require to kill the animal. So, main myth busted.
Cool Water? A thousand times better bang for buck, while naturally being quite synthetic smelling. In my opinion, it's hard to spot GIT from CW if you are not smelling them side to side.
One thing i will have to recognize from it, the composition and bottle are just absolutely astounding. The new F batch bottles are so sturdy, the metal cap excels and the atomizer is so classy looking. Composition - wise, looking up the GCMS of this (Available to anyone in the Fraterworks site as "Tartan Dream" in their formulas section) this does not have a single drop of verbena oil, since it's banned by IFRA due to it being phototoxic and sensitizing, two significant violations. It uses a bouquet of petitgrain and citruses instead, if you know the smell of rubbing lemon or orange tree leaves, this will remind you heavily of thy. The green, sandalwood, violet leaf and marine ambroxan edge just combine masterfully. I also find in it a significant tobacco note from coumarin, similar to smelling unlit cigars, which is actually declarated in CW. It has white musks as well, hence adding to the overall clean aura this has.
As a bottom line: If you have the money and want the status, i will assume my opinion is irrelevant. On the other side, if you don't have a huge budget (Like myself) and you want the best possible bang for buck, i'd hesitate to buy even a 50ml or a 100ml at discount. I love the scent but the price is a huge turnoff for me. CW is a great alternative and just great for summer, could layer with a citrus like an Aventus clone or Agua Brava and get a similar vibe.
