I can totally relate. Especially the opening is quite similar to CW. After all, it’s an intentional "clone" by Pierre Bourdon (there's a story about it on YT). Joop Homme and Mugler Cologne followed suit. Still, GIT feels "higher quality" in the drydown due to the typical Creed musk. Whether someone wants to strongly differentiate it from CW is another question. I’ve never been compared to CW with GIT, but the number of clone voters speaks for itself...
It has nothing to do with an amateur nose - they are 2 different scents. Cool Water is "blue," GIT is "green." I don't understand how anyone can smell the same thing here...
