Heat-Free!
In elementary school, we sometimes had heat-free days on particularly hot days. The unexpected free time was great, and even though it was too warm to learn - it was never too warm to play outside. "Nuit Marine" reminds me exactly of the scent of such summer heat. "Nuit Marine" literally smells of heat, of scorching asphalt, shimmering air, dry grass, a brooding hot day in the countryside. It has a slightly synthetic undertone for me. But that fits, because heated asphalt doesn’t smell particularly natural either.

I find the "Marine" in the name somewhat misleading: I would initially expect something aquatic, which you will search for in vain in this fragrance. In this regard, however, I was warned or rather well-informed. Since I received "Nuit Marine" as part of a lovely swap package and had never heard of the scent before, I used the brief waiting time to gather as much information about it as possible. There is almost nothing to be found online; fortunately, there are already a few scent impressions here on Parfumo. While reading the comments and statements, it quickly became clear to me that no aquatic fragrance was on its way to me, and my curiosity grew. After it arrived, the packaging and the bottle made me a bit hesitant. Somehow, both remind me of the kind of perfume that is offered in supermarkets & co... But I was far from correct! "Nuit Marine" does not come from there, nor does it smell cheap. Not spectacular, not necessarily unusual. But very good if you like heat. After spraying it on, my first thought was: "This is coming with me on vacation!" However, I quickly changed my mind, because under the southern sun, I prefer a scent that refreshes, and "Nuit Marine" is not refreshing at all. Surprisingly, I still like to wear it on hot summer days in northern Germany; even more so on mild evenings.

All in all, a successful fragrance that has won my heart in all modesty. It can stay and has been eagerly and abundantly used for weeks. Longevity and sillage are not overly generous, but as with most fragrances, you can help yourself by spraying it on your clothes (it smells wonderful). The scent may be a little woody and spicy, but toned down rather than intense. "Nuit Marine" is a rather delicate, warm, subtly sensual fragrance that I don’t want to miss anymore.

Open House Day
Today is "Open House Day" at the animal shelter, which I always attend, even though it always leaves me feeling sad.

Because the "open door" only applies to the visitors, not to the little souls left behind the bars.
My obligatory donation only comforts me marginally.

To distract myself from the gloomy thoughts, I browse the lovely animal shelter flea market.
There I discover Nuit Marine.
Since the proceeds go to the animals, I buy it without hesitation.

And what a lucky find!
This fragrance truly captures a night by the sea, where one gazes alone at the rippling waves with their thoughts.
It is quiet - except for the soft song of the wind.
The scent has something unifying, interwoven with melancholy.
The incense gives the atmosphere a somewhat festive touch, and the iris captures the slightly bitter myrrh in a powdery way.
Amber is deep like the ocean floor - unfathomable.
One takes a breath - that opens the heart.

Nuit Marine is a fascinating fragrance, full of emotion, that encourages introspection.

I think of the many loyal pairs of eyes that followed me, and for whom the doors may hopefully open soon.

Surrounded by a delicate veil
I swapped for a sample of this fragrance and right after the first sniff thought, “no, it’s nothing, I don’t want it, I don’t need it.” One evening later, during the second test, I thought, “how silly was that, what a beautiful scent!” and quickly removed it from the souk!

With Nuit Marine, the name might be a bit misleading, as I would have thought of a “maritime,” aquatic-fresh-sparkling scent. Rather, it smells exactly as the fragrance pyramid suggests. Right at the beginning, the iris powders, so I could have even said without looking, “Hello, Iris!” The other fragrance notes blend harmoniously, are finely intertwined, and do not change.

When I smell Nuit Marine, I see a woman standing on a pier by the sea in the onset of evening twilight, gazing into the distance, enveloped in a dove-blue transparent veil that flutters gently in the wind. Nuit Marine is a rather quiet fragrance that gently surrounds and caresses you like that veil. I smell the delicate powderiness of the iris and a bit of incense, which usually instills respect in me, but here it only passes by very softly. Or is it myrrh? Probably both. (Maybe I should have paid better attention during the story of the Three Wise Men!)

Nuit Marine is softly powdery, gentle, delicate, unsweet, slightly woody, and a calm, almost melancholic fragrance, without being heavy or even morose. A fine scent that is wearable all day long without annoying the wearer or their surroundings. In proper cold, it might be too quiet, but otherwise, in my opinion, it is always wearable, not just in summer. However, I can imagine that it particularly shines on mild summer evenings.

I will try it out, as a bottle is now on its way to me. And I almost deprived myself of this beautiful scent - unthinkable!

A Night by the Mediterranean
Nuit Marine is the fourth in the series from Galerie Noémie for Daniel Jouvance, following Nuances de Peau, Éveil Fraîcheur, and Rouge Passion, and in my opinion, the most beautiful so far. It smells similar to many of the care products from Daniel Jouvance that I have been using for many years.

I love nighttime walks by the Mediterranean, past the wooden boats of fishermen and traders, when a gentle and delicate floral scent wafts over from the gardens on land, mixing with the salty scent of the sea and the wood of the boats. One or two boats still smell of their last cargo, which may have consisted of tea or spices. Some boats are still quite new, and their wood still smells of resin. It is warm and quiet, only the sea is murmuring. I can stroll along the shore for hours or sit on a stone and listen to the sea.

Nuit Marine reminds me of exactly such nights. The very slightly salty note in the opening soon gives way to a very soft woody note, lightly floral and slightly resinous, but above all, wood. The scent feels calming and balancing to me, and I am just longing for the Mediterranean. A year-round fragrance that envelops its wearer in a light, soft, delicately scented cloud.

The listed notes of the pyramid make sense, apart from the incense. Subtle iris, creamy resinous myrrh, and a hint of synthetic.

A gentle iris-powder whisper envelops balsamic woods. Incense wafts in from afar. A delicate, soft, close-to-skin cloud. And then it's gone.

Very understated, but not bad,
softly creeping incense with myrrh. A bit lacking in everything.

Iris and incense, myrrh with a slightly balsamic-resinous Ambroxan as a whole, great for warm weather, pleasantly light, creamy smoky, synthetic.

Quite nice, but nothing more. Mild & unremarkable.

I find the scent almost delightfully soft, just a whisper, and then - unfortunately - it's gone so quickly.

Only church incense and a bit of myrrh for me, nothing else. Unfortunately, it doesn't evoke any maritime feelings, what a pity!

A lovely scent, behind the sharp alcohol. Iris and incense in a delicate interplay. Very close to the skin.
