Fanta 4 feat. Cool Water ... an almost impossible comparison! ;-)
For years, I stuck with what I had: Ultraviolet Man, Allure Homme Sport, Terre d'Hermès, Xeryus Rouge, and Bulgari Pour Homme Extrème. With this combo, I was doing just fine, carefree ... passing it by. I guess I was a bit high-flying, no lie ... until quite a bit came to an end. Then I looked around here and after some time, I signed up. Because somehow I thought: There must be more out there. And indeed, I stumbled upon highly-rated fragrance giants that I didn’t know or had only heard of, because until now I was running through this world ... without discovering anything new! Everything that excited me, that I could never get enough of, I prefer to leave (for now), because I feel ... conflicted! ;-)
The Fantastischen Vier came together in the same year that Cool Water hit the market: 1988. Now their 30th stage anniversary is approaching and I decided to buy a fragrance that marked a milestone in the perfume world, just as German hip hop would hardly be conceivable without Fanta 4. I actually don’t care much for mainstream, but I gladly acknowledge musical and olfactory high performance, thanks to matured synapses! :-) To this day, I like both and both "products" have successfully maintained their place in the market ... for which there are certainly excellent reasons!
There’s the extremely high recognition value to mention, as well as the sympathy for a mass-appeal phenomenon that you just can’t be mad at for having survived so many contemporaries. I hadn’t had Fanta 4 or Cool Water on my radar, then the band released a new album and I stumbled upon a favorite from long ago. Free after the motto "I liked the old stuff, not the new" from the song "Populär"! :-)
And so I land, "Oldschool," as I am, in the late 80s, early 90s, and realize: "And we will become brothers with the day at the sea!" I can still hear it, I can still smell it! Cool Water, you are almost "too cool for this world!" and therefore I just want to say "Thank you!" at the end! ;-)
