Misnamed and totally confusing ...

I don't do flankers ... this is probably a rule I should make myself adhere to more and just not bother testing them at all, but I do :). The truth is that Cool Water Sea Rose was a Duty Free blind buy as there wasn't a tester available ... and the strange name did pique my interest.

It turns out that there is definitely something called a Sea Rose (not included in this fragrance), which the Japanese have been making potpourri from for centuries. It looks something like a Peony (which is one of the notes in this fragrance) but isn't related apart from the fact that both are bushy shrubs.
I once ate a Nashi (Asian) pear and I wasn't in the least impressed by it's bland, almost fragrance free consistency. I generally dislike fruity florals too, so a combination of Pear and Peony should have me turning my nose up ... which didn't happen upon immediate application when I reached the Business Class lounge waiting for a recent plane to take off.
Cool Water Sea Rose smells pretty much exactly like two of my other favorite fragrances ... Boucheron Jaipur Bracelet and Dior's Pure Poison ... so it won't go to waste. The strange thing is that the note pyramids of these three fragrances have very little to do with each other, but the similarity in the way they smell is undeniable.

When all is said and done, Cool Water Sea Rose is not a groundbreaking release by any stretch of the imagination. It is, however, a pleasant and wearable fragrance ... and less expensive than the other two.

HAH! I seriously doubt that PBF ... it seems as if vat production is the order of the day!!

Do you think they'll stop making them if we stop testing them? I'm not optimistic about that.
Glad this one worked out for you, though.
