99 Cents at Kaufland

Many mourn a fragrance that has been discontinued. It's like with everything in life. A personality dies, and suddenly everyone behaves as if they were best friends, as if this was the most important person. Hypocrites!

With fragrances, it's similar, no, exactly the same.

Relax by Davidoff must have been a super little scent. Anyway, one day I got a decant because I was tempted by the comments.

When I received it, I thought to myself, "Is this supposed to be the best Davidoff fragrance?"
Nothing special about this scent, just your average 0815 like Cool Water or Boss Bottled, well, it is a bit better.
But it is far from being truly stunning. It just smells too linear, too boring over time, not playful enough, even to say, sleep-inducing. I do like woodruff and with vanilla on top, I also enjoy that. But wanting to smell it for 7 hours along with a piercing, somewhat annoying note (no, it hasn't gone off, it doesn't smell off) really isn't necessary.

Enough negativity, it's not that bad, it's just nothing special; I would place it in the solid midfield.

I can absolutely understand why it was discontinued and Cool Water wasn't!
Insider tip: go buy woodruff pudding with vanilla sauce at Kaufland and slather yourself with it, it has the same effect and you'll save a ton of money!

I think it's good, but Relax is definitely overrated, I have to say.

Young guy gives an old fragrance a bad review and faces backlash. Don’t take it personally, Sonny94, it was to be expected. Here’s a trophy for your courage to share a different opinion!

You're way off with your relax comment (which, by the way, has nothing to do with your age). But that's okay, your problem...

I felt the same way about "Sumatra Rain," but the other way around - I thought it was old-fashioned back then and was surprised to see how some people raved about it here. But as you said, tastes differ, regardless of age, and if someone associates the scent with woodruff pudding and vanilla sauce, they should be able to express that. Maybe you should have written Galium odoratum Flammeri instead of Vanilla planifolia Spiegel; that would be quite intellectual here...

Honestly, it has absolutely nothing to do with age or maturity. Scents like **Antaeus**, **Fahrenheit**, **Terre d'Hermès**, or even **Patou Pour Homme** are just amazing to me! It’s more about personal taste. For example, at 23, I love listening to **Pink Floyd** and **Led Zeppelin**, which none of my friends understand. But I don’t care; I like what I like, and it has nothing to do with age! ;)

I wore it and I miss it. Relax-understander or hypocrite? I don't care. :-)

The Relax I had in the 90s was great, but I can easily imagine that I wouldn't like it today if it were still available. Unfortunately, there are more than enough fragrances from that time that I loved back then but now find awful or irrelevant, either because my taste has changed or because the scent has been thoroughly reformulated. So I'm fine with the fact that there's no Relax anymore today.

@Sonny94: The more mature gentlemen here might have fond memories associated with this scent, which is linked to old times and experiences. Back then, there were no cell phones, internet, websites, etc., where you could quickly look something up online. Maybe at your age, you just don’t appreciate a good fragrance like this yet? If they were to re-release Relax, it wouldn't be the same as it once was, so: rest in peace!

You shouldn't take the 99 cents and the jelly pudding too seriously. That's probably why it's 'less helpful' for many. It was/is a good scent.

I can definitely remember the time of Relax, but strangely, as Honk1510 mentioned, I can't recall anyone who wore Relax :)
Anyway, great comment. Trophy for you.

Back then when I wore it, you only had a maximum of 3-4 fragrances on the shelf, and people didn’t think much about perfume; today, it’s a bit different.

Relax, Background, What about Adam. All the fragrances I used to own. Nobody cared about those scents. Back then, everyone wore Joop! Homme and Obsession, etc. I agree with you. If they get discontinued, everyone starts whining. Suddenly, they were the holy grails. But they definitely weren't back then. At least not for those people. Trophy for your spot-on words!

I love it because it was my first perfume that I bought for myself, and yes, I'm well over 23.

I dare say that the vast majority of those who love Relax are definitely over 23 ;-)
